20.1

तत्र या दीक्षा संस्कारसिद्ध्यै ज्ञानयोग्यान् प्रति या च तदशक्तान् प्रति मोक्षदीक्षा सबीजा तस्यां कृतायाम् आजीवं शेषवर्तनं गुरुः उपदिशेत्

Transliteration (IAST)

tatra yā dīkṣā saṃskārasiddhyai jñānayogyān prati yā ca tadaśaktān prati mokṣadīkṣā sabījā tasyāṃ kṛtāyām ājīvaṃ śeṣavartanaṃ guruḥ upadiśet

— the initiation that is for accomplishing the (purifying) sacrament ; — toward those fit for knowledge ; — toward those incapable of that ; — the liberation-initiation that retains the seed (of embodied life) ; — when it has been performed ; — for the whole of life ; — the remaining course of conduct (post-initiatory observance) ; — the guru should instruct (him in)

There, regarding the initiation that is for accomplishing the sacrament — toward those fit for knowledge — and the liberation-initiation that retains the seed (of embodied life) toward those incapable of that: when it has been performed, the guru should instruct (the disciple) in the remaining course of conduct for the whole of his life.
