The Essence of the Tantra16.10

16.10

बहिर् अपि इत्थं कथं न भवति आकर्षणादौ विनाभ्यासात् इति चेत् रागद्वेषादियोगवशेन तत्प्रवृत्तौ ऐश्वर्यावेशायोगात्

Transliteration (IAST)

bahir api itthaṃ kathaṃ na bhavati ākarṣaṇādau vinābhyāsāt iti cet rāgadveṣādiyogavaśena tatpravṛttau aiśvaryāveśāyogāt

— even externally (in worldly practice) ; — thus (as described) ; — why does it not come about ; — in attraction (of persons) and the like ; — without practice (training) ; — by force of the conjunction with passion, aversion, and the like ; — when there is engagement in that ; — because of the absence of absorption into (divine) sovereignty

If one objects: "Why, then, does this not also come about externally, in attraction-magic and the like, without (special) training?" — (the answer is) because when one engages in that by force of conjunction with passion, aversion, and so on, there is no absorption into (divine) sovereignty.
