— wholehearted devotion to the guru ; — to the deity ; — toward its rival (the opposed deity) ; — turning away (aversion) ; — of the guru's son and the rest ; — of one related by the bond of knowledge ; — of those previously initiated by him, and the rest ; — showing respect (regarding them as guru) ; — of one related by marriage ; — for the purpose of honouring him (the guru) ; — but not on their own account

Wholehearted devotion to the guru, likewise to the scripture and to the deity; turning away from the deity's rival; regarding as one regards the guru the guru's son and the rest, one related by the bond of knowledge, those previously initiated by him and the like — and one related by marriage is to be regarded (thus) for the purpose of honouring the guru, but not, it must be understood, on their own account.
