कार्योन्मुखः प्रयत्नो यः केवलं सोऽत्र लुप्यते । तस्मिँल्लुप्ते विलुप्तोऽस्मीत्यबुधः प्रतिपद्यते ॥१५॥
kāryonmukhaḥ prayatno yaḥ kevalaṃ so 'tra lupyate | tasmiṃl lupte vilupto 'smīty abudhaḥ pratipadyate ||

— directed toward effects ; — effort ; — which ; — alone, merely ; — that (effort) ; — here (in deep sleep) ; — is suppressed ; — in that (effort) ; — (being) suppressed ; — annihilated ; — I am ; — thus ; — the undiscerning person ; — concludes, supposes

What is suspended (in deep sleep) is merely the effort directed toward effects; when that ceases, the undiscerning person thinks 'I am annihilated'.
