5.36

अन्धादेरन्यदृष्ट्यात्र घटः किं प्रथते न चेत् । शिवत्वस्य तथा व्यक्तेर्घटस्येच्छा तथास्ति वा ॥३६॥

andhāderanyadṛṣṭyātra ghaṭaḥ kiṃ prathate na cet | śivatvasya tathā vyakterghaṭasyecchā tathāsti vā

— of a blind man and the like ; — by another's seeing ; — here ; — the pot ; — does it not shine forth? ; — if (you object) ; — of the Śiva-nature ; — likewise ; — from the manifestation ; — of the pot ; — will ; — likewise exists too

(One might object:) does not the pot here shine forth (just as well) by the seeing of another, even a blind man's (companion)? (We reply:) likewise, by the manifestation of (its) Śiva-nature, the pot too has, in like manner, a will (of its own).
