— cognition (the act of seeing); — self-luminous alone; — not by another; — to be known, knowable; — as the seeing of a form is not (seen by another seeing); — a cognition; — in the case of taste (the memory of taste); — the fact of being born from an impression; — but, merely; — similarity to it (the original); — not; — cognizance of it (the original experience)
A cognition is self-luminous and cannot be known by another, just as one seeing of a form is not (apprehended) by another seeing. As for the memory of a taste, its being born from an impression yields only a resemblance to the original, not a cognizance of it.
