saṃskārāt smṛitisiddhau syāt smartā draṣṭeva kalpitaḥ
— therefore, hence; — among distinct (momentary); — among the factors (mental events); — owing to the non-difference of their nature; — from the latent trace; — when the establishment of memory (takes place); — there would be; — a rememberer; — like a seer (i.e. merely posited); — imagined, fictionally constructed
(Opponent:) Hence, among the distinct momentary factors, owing to the sameness of their nature, when memory is established from the latent trace, a 'rememberer' — like a 'seer' — is merely a fictional construct.
