2.1

तं तथा कृपयाविष्टमश्रुपूर्णाकुलेक्षणम् । विषीदन्तमिदं वाक्यमुवाच मधुसूदनः ॥ २-१ ॥

taṃ tathā kṛpayāviṣṭamaśrupūrṇākulekṣaṇam | viṣīdantamidaṃ vākyamuvāca madhusūdanaḥ || 2-1 ||

— to him, thus ; — overcome by compassion ; — his eyes brimming and distressed with tears ; — despairing ; — spoke these words ; — the slayer of Madhu (Kṛṣṇa)

To him thus overcome by compassion, his eyes brimming and clouded with tears, and sunk in despair, Madhusūdana spoke these words:
