कुलक्षयकृतं दोषं प्रपश्यद्भिर्जनार्दन ! । कुलक्षये प्रणश्यन्ति कुलधर्माः सनातनाः ॥ १-४० ॥
kulakṣayakṛtaṃ doṣaṃ prapaśyadbhirjanārdana ! | kulakṣaye praṇaśyanti kuladharmāḥ sanātanāḥ || 1-40 ||
— the evil wrought by the ruin of the family ; — by those who clearly see ; — O Janārdana ; — in the destruction of a family ; — the eternal family-dharmas perish

For us, who clearly see the evil wrought in the destruction of a family, O Janārdana — when a family is destroyed, its ancient and eternal dharmas perish.
