1.32

त्यक्तुं कर्तुं न चार्हन्ति सदा कातरचेतसः । वेदार्थयुक्तशास्त्राणि स्मृतिरूपाणि भूतले ॥३२॥

tyaktuṃ kartuṃ na cārhanti sadā kātaracetasaḥ | vedārthayuktaśāstrāṇi smṛtirūpāṇi bhūtale ||32||

— to abandon ; — to perform ; — not ; — and ; — are able, are fit ; — ever ; — of timid/distressed mind ; — the scriptures consonant with the meaning of the Veda ; — in the form of Smṛti ; — on the surface of the earth

and, ever of distressed mind, could neither abandon it nor perform it. (Then you revealed) on earth the scriptures consonant with the meaning of the Veda, in the form of the Smṛtis,
