विभागकालग्रहणकालयोर्भिन्नकालता । विनष्टत्वात् फलं कस्य क्रमात्कर्मफले यतः ॥३८॥
vibhāgakālagrahaṇakālayorbhinnakālatā | vinaṣṭatvāt phalaṃ kasya kramātkarmaphale yataḥ
— of the moment of distinguishing and the moment of grasping ; — difference of time ; — because of (the first having) perished ; — the fruit ; — of whom? ; — through succession ; — in (the relation of) act and fruit ; — since

Between the moment of distinguishing and the moment of grasping there would be a difference of time; (and) since (the agent-moment has) perished, whose is the fruit? — since in (the relation of) act and fruit (there is) succession (yet no abiding subject to receive it on the momentarist's view).
