4.18

तदान्ध्यं जन्यते केन तस्य कालान्तरस्थितेः । सर्वैः समत्वं बाधो वा संबन्धे जननं कथम् ॥१८॥

tadāndhyaṃ janyate kena tasya kālāntarasthiteḥ | sarvaiḥ samatvaṃ bādho vā saṃbandhe jananaṃ katham

— its blindness ; — is produced ; — by what ; — of it ; — because it exists at a different time ; — with all ; — equivalence ; — annulment ; — or ; — in (their) connection ; — arising ; — how

By what is its blindness produced, given that it exists at a different time (from the annulling cognition)? Either there is equivalence with all (cognitions), or (you must explain) the annulment; and how can the arising (of a connection between things at different times) come about in their connection?
