3.16

तदुपायात्परत्वं चेद्दीपादेरप्युपायता ॥१६॥

tadupāyātparatvaṃ ceddīpāderapyupāyatā

— from being a means to that ; — supremacy ; — if ; — of a lamp and the rest too ; — the status of being a means

If supremacy (is granted) merely from being a means to that, then a lamp and the rest are equally (such) means (and would have to be called 'supreme' too).
