स्वतन्त्रपरमेशाद्वयवादे तु उपपद्यते एतत् यथाहि परमेश्वरः स्वरूपाच्छादनक्रीडया पशुः पुद्गलो ऽणुः सम्पन्नः न च तस्य देशकालस्वरूपभेदविरोधः तद्वत् स्वरूपस्थगनविनिवृत्त्या स्वरूपप्रत्यापत्तिं झटिति वा क्रमेण वा समाश्रयन् शक्तिपातपात्रम् अणुः उच्यते स्वातन्त्र्यमात्रसारश् च असौ परमशिवः शक्तेः पातयिता इति निरपेक्ष एव शक्तिपातो यः स्वरूपप्रथाफलः यस् तु भोगोत्सुकस्य स कर्मापेक्षः लोकोत्तररूपभोगोत्सुकस्य तु स एव शक्तिपातः परमेश्वरेच्छाप्रेरितमायागर्भाधिकारीयरुद्रविष्णुब्रह्मादिद्वारेण मन्त्रादिरूपत्वं मायापुंविवेकं पुंस्कलाविवेकं पुम्प्रकृतिविवेकं पुम्बुद्धिविवेकम् अन्यच् च फलं प्रस्नुवानः तदधरतत्त्वभोगं प्रतिबध्नाति भोगमोक्षोभयोत्सुकस्य भोगे कर्मापेक्षो मोक्षे तु तन्निरपेक्षः इति सापेक्षनिरपेक्षः

svatantraparameśādvayavāde tu upapadyate etat yathāhi parameśvaraḥ svarūpācchādanakrīḍayā paśuḥ pudgalo 'ṇuḥ sampannaḥ na ca tasya deśakālasvarūpabhedavirodhaḥ tadvat svarūpasthaganavinivṛttyā svarūpapratyāpattiṃ jhaṭiti vā krameṇa vā samāśrayan śaktipātapātram aṇuḥ ucyate svātantryamātrasāraś ca asau paramaśivaḥ śakteḥ pātayitā iti nirapekṣa eva śaktipāto yaḥ svarūpaprathāphalaḥ yas tu bhogotsukasya sa karmāpekṣaḥ lokottararūpabhogotsukasya tu sa eva śaktipātaḥ parameśvarecchāpreritamāyāgarbhādhikārīyarudraviṣṇubrahmādidvāreṇa mantrādirūpatvaṃ māyāpuṃvivekaṃ puṃskalāvivekaṃ pumprakṛtivivekaṃ pumbuddhivivekam anyac ca phalaṃ prasnuvānaḥ tadadharatattvabhogaṃ pratibadhnāti bhogamokṣobhayotsukasya bhoge karmāpekṣo mokṣe tu tannirapekṣaḥ iti sāpekṣanirapekṣaḥ

— in the doctrine of the non-duality of the autonomous Supreme Lord ; — is coherent (is established) ; — by the play of veiling His own nature ; — a bound soul, an individual, an atom (becomes) ; — contradiction through difference of place, time, or nature ; — the recovery of his own true nature ; — a vessel (fit recipient) for the descent of power ; — whose essence is sheer autonomy ; — the one who causes the power to descend ; — independent (requiring no extraneous condition) ; — whose fruit is the unfolding of (one's own) nature ; — of one eager for enjoyment ; — dependent on karma ; — of one eager for enjoyment of a supramundane form ; — the discrimination of the soul from māyā ; — the enjoyment of the principles lower than that ; — he obstructs ; — both dependent and independent (conditionally so)

But in the doctrine of the non-duality of the autonomous Supreme Lord this is coherent. For just as the Supreme Lord, by the play of veiling His own nature, has become a bound soul, an individual, an atom — and there is for Him no contradiction through difference of place, time, or nature — so too the atom (soul), taking up, by the cessation of the veiling of its nature, the recovery of its true nature either at once or by stages, is called a vessel for the descent of power; and He, the Supreme Śiva, whose essence is sheer autonomy, is the one who makes the power descend. Thus śaktipāta is altogether independent when its fruit is the unfolding of (one's own) nature; but when it belongs to one eager for enjoyment, it is dependent on karma. For one eager for the enjoyment of a supramundane form, that very śaktipāta — operating through the agency of Rudra, Viṣṇu, Brahmā, and the rest, who hold office within the womb of māyā, impelled by the will of the Supreme Lord — yielding the state of being mantra and the rest, the discrimination of the soul from māyā, the discrimination of the soul from the kalā, from prakṛti, from the intellect, and other fruits besides, obstructs the enjoyment of the principles lower than that. For one eager for both enjoyment and liberation, it is dependent on karma as regards enjoyment, but independent of it as regards liberation — and so it is both dependent and independent.
