कृते व्यतीते त्रेतायां दृष्ट्वा धर्मव्यतिक्रमम् । वेदोक्तकर्मभिर्मर्त्या न शक्ताः स्वेष्टसाधने ॥३०॥
kṛte vyatīte tretāyāṃ dṛṣṭvā dharmavyatikramam | vedoktakarmabhirmartyā na śaktāḥ sveṣṭasādhane ||30||
— the Kṛta age ; — having passed away ; — in the Tretā age ; — having seen ; — transgression of dharma ; — by the rites enjoined in the Veda ; — mortals ; — not ; — able ; — in attaining their own desired aim

When the Kṛta age had passed, in the Tretā age—seeing the transgression of dharma—mortals were no longer able, by the rites enjoined in the Veda, to attain their desired end.
