The Essence of the Tantra8.69

8.69

Transliteration (IAST)

ata eva kāra ity anena kṛtakatvam asya uktaṃ sāṅkhyasya tu tat na yujyate sa hi na ātmano 'haṃvimarśamayatām icchati vayaṃ tu kartṛtvam api tasya icchāmaḥ

— the (word-element) "kāra" (in ahaṅ-kāra, denoting "making") ; — its being a product (something made) ; — for the Sāṃkhya ; — consisting of the self-reflective "I"-awareness ; — maintains, holds ; — agency ; — we maintain, we hold

For this very reason the element "kāra" (in ahaṅkāra) declares it to be a product. But this does not fit the Sāṃkhya, for he does not hold that the self consists of self-reflective "I"-awareness; whereas we hold that agency too belongs to it.
