शब्दादेर्ग्रहणं नास्ति पूर्वापरसहोदितैः ॥६४॥
śabdādergrahaṇaṃ nāsti pūrvāparasahoditaiḥ
— of sound and the rest ; — apprehension ; — there is not ; — by (factors) arising earlier, later, and together

(Otherwise) there could be no apprehension of a (single) sound and the like by (its component sounds), (some) arising before, (some) after, (some) together (— only the unifying power of consciousness binds the sequence into one).
