परस्परस्वभावत्वे कार्यकारणयोर् अपि
एकत्वम् एव भेदे हि नैवान्योन्यस्वरूपता ॥१७॥
parasparasvabhāvatve kāryakāraṇayor api
ekatvam eva bhede hi naivānyonyasvarūpatā
— if each be the nature of the other; — of effect and cause; — even; — there would be only oneness; — if there be difference; — for; — there is no; — the being one another's nature
If effect and cause were each the very nature of the other, there would be only oneness; for if there be (real) difference, then there is no being one another's nature at all.
