ये शास्त्रविधिमुत्सृत्य वर्तन्ते श्रद्धायान्विताः ।
तेषां निष्ठा तु का कृष्णा सत्त्वमाहो रजस्तमः ॥
१७-१ ॥
ye śāstravidhimutsṛtya vartante śraddhāyānvitāḥ |
teṣāṃ niṣṭhā tu kā kṛṣṇā sattvamāho rajastamaḥ ||
17-1 ||
Those who set aside the rule of scripture yet act endowed with faith — what then is their standing, O Kṛṣṇa? Is it sattva, or rajas, or tamas?
