20.21

अथ लिङ्गे तत्र न रहस्यमन्त्रैः लिङ्गं प्रतिष्ठापयेत् विशेषात् व्यक्तम् इति पूर्वप्रतिष्ठितेषु आवाहनविसर्जनक्रमेण पूजां कुर्यात् आधारतया

Transliteration (IAST)

atha liṅge tatra na rahasyamantraiḥ liṅgaṃ pratiṣṭhāpayet viśeṣāt vyaktam iti pūrvapratiṣṭhiteṣu āvāhanavisarjanakrameṇa pūjāṃ kuryāt ādhāratayā

— now, (worship) upon the liṅga ; — not with the secret mantras ; — should he consecrate (install) a liṅga ; — since it is conspicuously manifest (to all) ; — upon those previously consecrated ; — by the procedure of invocation and dismissal ; — he should perform worship, (treating it) as a support

Now, regarding (worship) upon the liṅga: there, he should not consecrate a liṅga with the secret mantras, since (such a liṅga) is conspicuously manifest to all; rather, upon those previously consecrated, he should perform worship by the procedure of invocation and dismissal, treating (the liṅga) as a support.
