जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च । तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥ २-२८ ॥
jātasya hi dhruvo mṛtyurdhruvaṃ janma mṛtasya ca | tasmādaparihārye'rthe na tvaṃ śocitumarhasi || 2-28 ||
— for of the born, death is certain ; — and of the dead, birth is certain ; — therefore over a matter that cannot be avoided ; — you ought not to grieve

For of one who is born, death is certain, and of one who dies, birth is certain; therefore over a matter that cannot be averted you ought not to grieve.
