यातयामं गतरसं पूति पर्युषितं च यत् ।
उच्छिष्टमपि चामेध्यं भोजनं तामसप्रियम् ॥
१७-१० ॥
yātayāmaṃ gatarasaṃ pūti paryuṣitaṃ ca yat |
ucchiṣṭamapi cāmedhyaṃ bhojanaṃ tāmasapriyam ||
17-10 ||
— kept overlong, flavourless, putrid ; — and stale, that which ; — is leftover and also impure ; — food is dear to the tāmasic Food that is kept overlong, flavourless, putrid, and stale, leftover and also impure, is dear to the tāmasic.
