विषयेन्द्रियसंयोगाद्यत्तदग्रेऽमृतोपमम् । परिणामे विषमिव तत् राजसमिति स्मृतम् ॥ १८-३८ ॥
viṣayendriyasaṃyogādyattadagre'mṛtopamam | pariṇāme viṣamiva tat rājasamiti smṛtam || 18-38 ||
— from the contact of senses with objects ; — which, at first, is like nectar ; — in its ripening like poison ; — that is held to be rājasic

That which arises from the contact of the senses with their objects and is at first like nectar but in its ripening like poison — that is held to be rājasic.
