17.4

ततो व्रतेश्वरम् आहूय पूजयित्वा तस्य शिवाज्ञया अकिञ्चित्करः त्वम् अस्य भव इति श्रावणां कृत्वा तं तर्पयित्वा विसृज्य अग्निं विसृजेत् इति लिङ्गोद्धारः

Transliteration (IAST)

tato vrateśvaram āhūya pūjayitvā tasya śivājñayā akiñcitkaraḥ tvam asya bhava iti śrāvaṇāṃ kṛtvā taṃ tarpayitvā visṛjya agniṃ visṛjet iti liṅgoddhāraḥ

— having summoned the Lord of the (former) observance ; — having worshipped (him) ; — by the command of Śiva ; — (saying) become powerless over this man ; — having made the proclamation ; — having gratified (him) ; — having dismissed (him) ; — he should dismiss the fire ; — the extraction of the (sectarian) liṅga (mark)

Then, having summoned the Lord of the (former) observance and worshipped him, having made the proclamation, by Śiva's command, "Become powerless over this man," having gratified him and dismissed him, he should dismiss the fire. Such is the extraction of the (sectarian) mark.
