As for concealment: concealment has for its fruit, depending on karma and the rest, a share in deep suffering and delusion. For just as, by the autonomy of the Light, even an awakened one may act like one deluded yet inwardly censure the deluded conduct, so too a deluded one may perform the conduct of the awakened — mantra-worship and the like — and (yet) censure it. And just as the deluded conduct of the (awakened) one, even when performed, comes to dissolution for the awakened, so the awakened conduct of the (deluded) one, being censured — because for him it has the form of forbidden behaviour, and because he is himself uneasy about it — sinks him in the mire of suffering and delusion. But for one in whom śaktipāta has arisen there is no concealment. Here too the dependence on karma and the rest is to be denied as before; and there too, owing to the variety of (the Lord's) will, this (concealment) has a fruit of suffering to be undergone for this one body only — as in the case of those, once established in Śiva's teaching and then forsaking it, who are given to both serving and censuring at the time of initiation, in the (ritual) conduct, toward guru, deity, fire, and the rest.
