Transliteration (IAST)
sapādam aṅguladvayaṃ tuṭiḥ ucyate tāsu catasṛṣu praharaḥ tuṭyardhaṃ tuṭyardhaṃ tatra sandhyā evaṃ nirgame dinaṃ praveśe rātriḥ iti tithyudayaḥ
Two finger-breadths plus a quarter are called a tuṭi; in four of these there is a watch (prahara). Half a tuṭi at one end and half a tuṭi at the other are the twilight junctures there. In this way, in exhalation there is day, in inhalation night — such is the arising of the lunar day.
