12.1

दीक्षादिकं वक्तव्यम् इति उक्तम् अतो दीक्षास्वरूपनिरूपणार्थं प्राक् कर्तव्यं स्नानम् उपदिश्यते

Transliteration (IAST)

dīkṣādikaṃ vaktavyam iti uktam ato dīkṣāsvarūpanirūpaṇārthaṃ prāk kartavyaṃ snānam upadiśyate

— initiation and the rest ; — is to be expounded ; — for the sake of determining the nature of initiation ; — beforehand, first ; — to be performed ; — bathing, ablution ; — is taught, is set forth

It was said that initiation and the rest must be expounded; therefore, in order to determine the nature of initiation, the bathing that is to be performed beforehand is first taught.
