3.12
प्रणवं पूर्वमुद्धृत्य सच्चित्पदमुदाहरेत् । एकं पदान्ते ब्रह्मेति मन्त्रोद्धारः प्रकीर्तितः ॥१२॥
praṇavaṃ pūrvamuddhṛtya saccitpadamudāharet | ekaṃ padānte brahmeti mantroddhāraḥ prakīrtitaḥ ||12||
— the praṇava (Oṃ) ; — first ; — having drawn forth ; — the words 'sat' and 'cit' ; — should utter ; — the syllable 'ekam' (one) ; — at the end of the words ; — 'brahma' ; — the extraction of the mantra ; — is declared

Having first drawn forth the praṇava (Oṃ), one should utter the words 'sat' and 'cit', then 'ekam' (one), and at the end 'brahma'—thus is the extraction of the mantra declared (Oṃ saccidekaṃ brahma).
