— the intense (descent is) threefold ; — from the higher-middle (descent) ; — although he has been initiated ; — in his own Śiva-nature ; — firm conviction ; — through the gradual ripening of conviction ; — at the body's end, he is Śiva alone ; — from the middle-middle (descent) ; — though eager for the Śiva-state ; — desirous of enjoyment ; — a vessel for knowledge ; — (enjoyment) gained through the practice of yoga

The intense (descent) is threefold. From the higher-middle, although he has been initiated, he does not have so firm a conviction in his own Śiva-nature; yet through the gradual ripening of conviction, at the body's end he is Śiva alone. From the middle-middle, though eager for the Śiva-state, he is (also) desirous of enjoyment; thus at the initiation he is likewise a vessel for knowledge, and he, having through the practice of yoga enjoyed with this very body the enjoyment so gained, at the body's end is Śiva alone.
