1.4 ज्ञानाधिष्ठानं मातृका ॥४॥ jñānādhiṣṭhānaṃ mātṛkā sūtra jñāna-adhiṣṭhānam — the basis/substratum of (limited) knowledge ; mātṛkā — the (un-understood) Mother — the matrix of phonemes/letters The basis of (bound) knowledge is Mātṛkā (the un-understood matrix of phonemes).
