6.21

तत्र कृष्णपक्ष एव उत्तरायणं षट्सु षट्सु अङ्गुलेषु सङ्क्रान्तिः मकरात् मिथुनान्ताम्

Transliteration (IAST)

tatra kṛṣṇapakṣa eva uttarāyaṇaṃ ṣaṭsu ṣaṭsu aṅguleṣu saṅkrāntiḥ makarāt mithunāntām

— the dark fortnight ; — the northern course (of the sun) ; — at every six finger-breadths ; — the passage (of the sun into a new sign) ; — from Capricorn (Makara) ; — ending in Gemini (Mithuna)

Therein the dark fortnight itself is the northern course of the sun: at every six finger-breadths there is a zodiacal passage, from Capricorn ending in Gemini.
