Donate

sohamhamso is a non-profit project. The reader, the dataset, and the pipeline are free to use and free to redistribute under CC-BY-SA 4.0. Donations keep the work moving and stay inside the work — they do not produce shareholder returns and there are no shareholders.

Use of funds

We will publish a brief annual statement once there are funds to account for. The intended allocation, in rough priority:

  1. Corpus expansion. Ingesting more texts: paying for OCR cleanup, manuscript photography access, and structural conversion to our verse-anatomy schema.
  2. Human reviewer compensation. Sanskrit scholars accepting AI-drafted translations into the reviewed tier (per the methodology). Reviewers are paid; this is not volunteer scholarship.
  3. Source permissions. Negotiating written redistribution agreements — most immediately with the Muktabodha Indological Research Institute — so more of the corpus can be included in the dataset bundle rather than served reader-only.
  4. Hosting and infrastructure. Edge hosting, database replication, model inference for the translation pipeline.
  5. Deferred — audio commissioning (V2). Recording recitations by trained reciters. Not in scope for V1, listed here for transparency.

How to give

We are still setting these up. Links will land here as accounts open; the page is honest about its placeholder state rather than promising channels that do not yet exist.

In the meantime, the most useful contribution is non-monetary: file issues on GitHub, flag translation errors, or — if you read Sanskrit and would like to review — say so in the discussions.
